This week in Detroit development: Ilitch extension, Eastern Market demo debacle and more

by Aaron Mondry September 21, 2023September 21, 2023

There’s a little more hope for the Del Bene building. Demolition may not be a done deal even after the building’s surprise partial collapse in Eastern Market, on a Saturday of all days.

Brick building with large sections of the exterior wall missing and interior floors collapsed, with bricks piled up in front. The building has a mural and the words “Busy Bee” painted on it, with the original word “Hardware” now illegible due to a collapsed wall section.
