Outlier Media’s inaugural summer internship position is an opportunity for a local college student to work in our Detroit newsroom. The program will run from June 20-Aug. 25, 2023. The pay is $32 per hour for 30 hours per week.
The intern will work collaboratively with other members of our editorial team to produce research and news articles within our coverage areas, which include housing, utilities, transportation, local government, policing, development, arts, culture and community. We are open to applications from students who want to focus on reporting, editing, photo/video, digital/social media or graphics design.

- May 19: Second-round candidates notified
- May 26: Second-round candidate interviews end
- May 30: Offer extended to selected candidate
- June 20: Internship begins
- Aug. 25: Internship ends
