Rukiya Colvin
Rukiya (they/them) is an organizer, writer, budding gardener and mother. As an agent of change, they believe in the importance of centering the voices of those who often go unheard or misrepresented. Rukiya practices this belief through journalism and can be found in Riverwise Magazine, Planet Detroit, Outlier Media, Detour Detroit, Next City and others. As a recent graduate of Wayne State’s urban planning program, they actively work toward finding intersections between organizing, journalism and urban planning. Otherwise they can be found collecting rocks with their son, lost in a whirlwind of Spotify playlists, or somewhere enjoying the beauties of nature.
